Martyn Beats Bou in the first Indoor Trial of 2024

Toby Martyn emerged victorious in front of Toni Bou in Chambéry, captivating the packed audience with a fiery atmosphere. The Trial Indoor season commenced on Saturday evening, drawing a crowd of 4000 spectators. The Lighthouse, as always, provided an incredible atmosphere.

Despite expectations of an easy win for Toni Bou, it was Toby Martyn who showcased exceptional driving skills and claimed the victory.

In the initial round, Toni and Toby already took the lead with scores of 6 and 7 points respectively. Sondre Haga from Norway secured the third position with an impressive performance, earning 11 points. Gael Chatagno from France followed in fourth place with 13 points using his Electric Motion bike. Benoit Bincaz scored 20 points, Hugo Dufrese 23, Teo Colairo and Billy Green both scored 25 points.

During the Sprint Round, Toni dominated with a significant lead, completing the 3 zones in a total time of 1 minute and 23 seconds without any penalties. Toby Martyn once again secured the second position with a total time of 2 minutes and 20 seconds (including time penalties). Benoit Bincaz finished in third place with a total time of 2 minutes and 48 seconds, followed by Gael Chatagno with 2 minutes and 58 seconds, Sondre Haga with 3 minutes and 5 seconds, Billy Green with 3 minutes and 47 seconds, Teo Colairo with 4 minutes and 38 seconds, and Hugo Dufrese with 5 minutes and 2 seconds.

A new format was introduced for this round, featuring a final with 4 pilots. After completing 3 zones, the 2 lowest ranked pilots were eliminated, making way for a Super Final consisting of 2 zones.

The final round included Toni Bou, Toby Martyn, Gael Chatagno, and Sondre Haga.

The crucial difference in this first part of the final occurred in zone 2, as only Toni and Toby successfully crossed it.

Gael secured the third place on the podium, surpassing Sondre Haga's performance in the other two zones. We must acknowledge Gael's excellent evening and his proficiency in the zones with his Electric Motion bike.

During the Super Final, the two chosen zones failed to determine a clear winner between the two Montesa riders. Despite the immense challenge posed by the two sections, they managed to cross them without incurring any penalties. Consequently, a tie-breaker zone was introduced to determine the winner. In this zone, Toby Martyn emerged victorious, while Toni Bou incurred a penalty for touching his sump plate on part of the section. Toby Martyn's remarkable and extraordinary driving skills led him to triumph in Chambéry, marking the first major surprise of the season.
